Makeup : Bobbi Brown's Smokey Eye

As an Asian, I am terrified of wearing a smokey eye. The risk of looking like a panda is very high

Regardless, I went along to the Bobbi Brown counter in David Jones to try out a new eye shadow palette Bobbi Brown has brought out.

I had my eyebrows filled in and I had a more 'subtle' version of a smokey eye.

The end result, I didn't look like me anymore! My eyebrows had a life of its' own and my eyes looked so awake, I thought my eye balls might pop out of my socket.

But below is a gorgeous photo of Kate Upton with the same look (left). (Can you believe she's only 22?)

Kate Upton for Bobbi Brown

I think she wears smokey eye better than me.

I much prefer if they did the golden glow look on me.

Now tell me do you wear a smokey eye? If so, how do you wear it?
If not, what eye makeup do you do?

Makeup : CK One Color

When I do have the time, I love escaping to Myer in Sydney CBD.

Lots of makeup brands and sales personnel trying to grab your attention and sell their products to you.

Well I was grabbed by the below counter. (Posted on my Instagram account @ellyalwaysloves)

@ellyalwaysloves

What this brand offers is simplicity and the choice of relying I fewer products. This is great especially if you are travelling for work or going on a holiday, it's not ideal to bring your whole makeup and skin care products.

My makeup took 20 minutes (yes, talking about simplicity).
The look was casual for the day and enough for an after work drinks. (See pic below with my lovely fiancé, yep announcement right here!)

I used the below products.

Foundation - 3 in 1

I love the idea that there is three things in one. There is a serum in this which is great because I don't use a serum currently. There is a primer which means the foundation lasts longer. The finish is ok. It's a light coverage which suits me fine. But it smells a bit funny which I can't figure what smell it is.

Cream and Powder Duo Blush

CK have great ideas and I love how they have combined the best of both worlds - cream and powder. You use the cream first which is a darker colour and use the powder to give a soft and feminine look.

Lipgloss

This lipgloss range comes in many colours. The lipgloss smells really nice. And it glides on effortlessly and the best thing about it is, non-sticky.

Please head to Myer City for your mini-makeover!

Product Review : L'oreal Super Liner, Perfect Slim

For some, applying eye liner can be difficult and messy.

L'oreal has created an eyeliner with a slim felt tip. It should be more precise than a pencil and create a more intense line.

My Review: The line is dark and precise. So my shaky hand highlighted how bad I am at applying eyeliner. So I turned the bumpy line into a smokey effect and that looked great. Better than a normal eye pencil.

On second go, I drew a fine line on each eyelid and it goes on perfectly. Yes!

Easy to Apply: Yes

How long does it last: All day and no smudges

Appearance: looks pro

What is your favourite eye pencil/liner?

Product Review : L'oreal Excess Volume Million Lashes

Fronted by the gorgeous Eva Longoria, L'oreal Paris has created a new mascara that will create the biggest lashes without the clumping. The formula will make the lashes soft.

The brush is huge and design to volumise.

There is an anti-clump brush as well, when the brush create lumps.

For those who have sensitive eyes and wear contact lenses, it has been opthalmologically tested.

So you are safe.

My review: Still not sure how the brush worked (it didn't on my Asian lashes)
Easy to apply: 6 coats to get some curling action
How long does it last: Almost all day
Appearance: Looks pro

Would you try this product?

My Makeup Look at Burberry

It's summer! And it means makeup brands have broughtout a new collection to mark the change in season.

Burberry is an old English brand, one that is known for trench coats (because it's so cold in London). Their designs are always understated - stylish yet simple from a distance but intricate up close.

What many people may not be aware of is - they also make makeup. They have been in Australia for 2 years and in the States for three years.

I went along for a makeup appointment and this was my look.

  • Bold eyebrows (my eyebrows were drawn it and extended which made me not recognised the face in the mirror)
  • Golden nude complexion (I had on the combination-skin foundation)
  • Light contouring (I think my nose looked longer!)
  • Soft cheeks and lips (pinks)
  • Smokey eyes (but no mascara)
Head your way to David Jones' Burberry makeup counter for more.

What makeup look will you be sporting this summer?

Pop-out! Spring Beauty

Spring has hit Sydney!

Despite today's dreary weather (my window view of Barangaroo is completely foggy and the sky is dark), spring is here and no doubt the States have been very busy creating the latest beauty must-haves.

So to have things kick off!

The latest fragrance: Estee Lauder - Pleasures Bloom

Estee Lauder has always been a family favourite of mine and I have the entire 'Pleasures' collection. Each spring, they bring out a new variation of the classic 'Pleasures'. But don't be fooled, their variations are refreshing and very different to the other fragrances. So it's definitely worth testing out at your nearest DJs or Myer.

Latest makeup trend: Bright eyes and natural foundation

This is what is hitting the catwalks in New York. Bright colours, whether it be pink yellow or purple, as long as it stands out. And if Victoria Beckham, the Queen of the WAG Style Committee says purple eyeshadow is in, the whole world will follow suit. (Below is a picture of a model from her collection)

That's it for today but don't fret, new products are always launched so get excited for the next update!
